Abstract

Catalog search - Frequently Asked Questions

Body

Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Foundation provides the Apache Lucene open source search engine library for conducting fast and accurate searches. The Lucene search engine enables catalog organizations to create one searchable index file for each locale from the data that is available in the Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Foundation database. This index file and a user query, which is defined by customer-provided search criteria, return search results in a filtered, easy-to-navigate format.

  • How can the search index be created for browsing products in WCC?

The step by step process to create and activate the search index is available at - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21675586'

  • Can you run search index build agent (CATALOG_INDEX_BUILD transaction) in multiple JVMs in IBM Sterling Order Management?

This agent should be run on single JVM. Considering the fact that this agent has to process fixed number (almost same) of Items and it is not based on load on the system, a single JVM can be optimized to complete the
task in required time and hence there is no need for running this in multiple JVMs.Refer to the following link for more information - http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21963106

  • Why is Web Call center throwing the error 'Could not find active search index.' even after search index is active?

One likely issue is that the cache for YFS_SEARCH_INDEX has not been refreshed. Clearing the cache for the table YFS_SEARCH_INDEXshould help resolve this issue

  • Can the catalog search be extended to provide broader search capabilities?

Yes ,catalog search can be extended by updating information in the catalog search index file. The following components of catalog search are extensible:

  • Search system configurations
  • Locales and the corresponding analyzer
  • Query parser
  • Attributes

For detailed steps, refer to - https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS6QYM_9.3.0/com.ibm.help.ext.database.doc/DB_To_Extd_Cat_Srch.html

  • How can I configure cache for catalog search index to help speed up my search?

With the SearchIndexCache configuration provided by , Least Recently Used (LRU) pre-search results for categories and filtered attributes in the catalog search index are cached to disk, thereby reducing the amount of memory usage. To override and configure the out-of-the-box cache XML file, follow the steps available at - https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSYLSL_9.3.0/com.ibm.help.properties.doc/t_FND_PROP_ConfiguringCacheForCatalogSearchIndex.html
