In some cases a user may want to only start IBM Control Center and "not" start Cognos Reporting. Here are the steps you can do to perform this action: You can run installer and select option 2 instead of 1. Option 2 installs everything except Cognos. If Cognos is already installed you can do the following: Run configCC and in Cognos section, say N to auto start Cognos. Or update installationInfo.properties and set COGNOS_AUTO_START=false Then restart the application.

FYI you can remove an EP from the Control Center database but you must use SQL to do so. There is no way to do so via Control Center interfaces.
