Technical Blog Post

Abstract

SCC Cognos issues getting CAM-CRP-1057 error

Body

SCC Cognos issues getting CAM-CRP-1057 error.

Below are a few possible solutions:

Unable to start (cogconfig.sh) after hostname change Red-Hat C10: CAM-CRP-1057

1. Before you delete the following file, make sure you have an un-encrypted cogstartup.xml file. (You can export it from Cognos configuration) If you cannot start the service, please just make a copy of cogstartup.xml file.
2. Make sure to backup file before you delete or simply rename the following files. Delete the following files under <Cognos installation folder>/configuration: csk, encryptkeypair, signkeypair, caSerial and cogstartup.xml and cogconfig.prefs. Delete freshness under <Cognos installation folder>/temp/cam
3. Try if you can start Cognos. If you have the un-encrypted cogstartup.xml file, put that file under <Cognos installation folder>/configuration. If you don't have that file, don't worry about, you can generate a new one.

CAM-CRP-1057 Unable to Generate the Machine Specific Symmetric Key

I had a corrupted C84)Ms directory. I copied it over from a working duplicated configuration. after making the changes in cogconfig.sh . at startup I am getting CAM-CRP-1057 Unable to generate the machine specific symmetric key.

there are 2 keyfiles that you have to delete, so they get recreated by Cognos. Please search in this forum, you should find the answer.

Backup the following two folders which are located in c8->configuration->

signkeypair, encryptkeypair.

Then delete the above folders , after save and run ibm configuration.

[ ERROR ]
CAM-CRP-1315 Current configuration points to a different Trust Domain than originally configured.

[ ERROR ]
The cryptography information was not generated.

The remedy? Close the configuration and completely remove these directories beneath the /opt/cognos10/configuration directory:

– encryptkeypair
– signkeypair
– csk (actually I didn’t have this one. But I guess it should be removed if present)

re-ran cogconfig and saved. This time it worked!
