Understanding Unix SDK Requirements

Body

The How to upgrade IBM Sterling B2B Integrator is an excellent resource for simplifying the upgrade process, there seems to be confusion regarding the appropriate SDK requirements for Unix operating systems.

Determine Your SDK

You will need to know is the CPU (is it AMD, Intel, Opteron, etc.) and Unix version. If you have an existing version of IBM Sterling B2B Integrator installed on your system you can run the Dump Info command.

From the output of the dump info command, you can see this system has an "x86_64" which means this is a 64 bit, Intel CPU. However if this is a new install, you will need one of these Unix commands to identify your specific version and CPU. Here's an example from a 64-bit Power system

Download a supported SDK

1. While some SDKs are available via Developerworks a more complete set of 64 bit Java 7 Unix SDKs is located here: IBM SDK, Java Technology Edition Version 7

2. The System Requirements list "IBM Java 7 (SR7 FP1 or newer)". This stands for IBM Java 7 Service Refresh 7 Fix Pack 1 or higher. As you scroll down, you'll find an option for Java 7, SR8 for a 64-bit X86 systems and further down, for the 64 bit pSeries (ppc64).

3. For HP Unix and Solaris, the SDKs can be downloaded from Fix Central
