IBM Sterling Integrator V5.2.6.X Installation key notes.

In this Blog I am demonstrating about the must remembers of V5.2.6.X Installation and Upgrading processes.

1. The installation of IBM B2B Sterling Integrator is restricted with IBM Installation Manager from Version 5.2.6.0 onwards, so to install SI , need to install IBM Installation Manager first(IIM) then using IIM can install SI.

2. IBM Installation Manager installable shipped with SI Installable. After downloading the SI Installable unzip the package then inside you can find a folder with the name "InstallationManager", inside this folder you can find the IIM Installable for each OperatingSystem.

The IBM Installation Manager(IIM) package name will be like "IM_<OS Name>", according to your OS, unzip the package.

Note: If IIM is already installed in your machine then running the below commands will automatically upgrade your IIM.

3. for Unix branch Operating Systems, If you want GUI mode then enable the X11 forwarding and use the X11 software to install IIM and same for SI also. If you have X11 in your machine then then you can install IIM and SI in GUI mode else only one option is silent mode installation using response file. 

GUI Mode: 

Linux : for non-root user run the following command : ./userinst

            for root user run the following command :  ./install

Windows: for Administrator execute : install.exe

                 for Non- Administrator execute : userinst.exe

Silent Mode: 

Linux : for non-root user run the following command : ./userinstc -acceptLicence 

            for root user run the following command :  ./installc -acceptLicence

Now we are done with the IBM Installation Manager(IIM) installation.

Note: Similar to IIM , for SI also if you have X11 then Installation can be possible in GUI mode only. Silent mode of installation using Response file is available only for upgrading process. This silent mode installation is used for updating B2Bi to version 5.2.6 or later via applying a fixpack to an existing B2Bi instance.

GUI Mode:

4. Once the IIM installation is completed then IIM will be started automatically else you can start from the IIM from below path (where IIM is installed) by running IBMIM.

IIM Installation Directory path (for Linux) :  /root/IBM/InstallationManager/eclipse 

5. Once the IIM is started then go to File --> Preferences and Add Repository , select the repository.config file which is available in <SI Installation Media>/b2birep

and then click on Install to start the Installation. Once the Installation is started then select/fill the options and give proper inputs to complete the installation. 

Create a Database for SI , create a user for that Database and grant Resource,Admin and Connect permissions to the user. Provide the information and Test the connection. I am installing on Oracle DB. Once the Test is success then you are good to go and click on Next.

 For detailed installation select verbose. It will be helpful if anything fails during the installation and for fresh Installation do not select the second check box. 

Click on Install to complete the installation process.
