Abstract

How to Check Runtime Security Settings

Body

There are often times when a customer needs to know a particular setting on IBM Sterling B2B Integrator (SI). For example, what SSL/TLS security settings are currently active in their environment. Property files are a good indication of the settings but if the settings were edited - and - SI was not restarted after that edit, then those values are not in operation. Thankfully, there is a way to check the current values in place using Queue Watcher.

After enabling queue watcher, you can interrogate real time values. In the case of security settings, from the queue watcher main screen, scroll down to the "View Properties" field and select the security option, then click Send.

On the next screen, you will see all the current security settings. If you're interested in the SSL/TLS values SI is capable of negotiating for HTTPS - the SSLHelloProtocol field

This corresponds to the SSLHelloProtocol setting from the security.properties file as do the other values in this property file.

You can view other property file real time settings by choosing the appropriate value in the  "View Properties" field.
