This is just a quick hello and intro to what this Blog will contain. I work with WebSphere Serviceability Development ... but "Don't let the name fool you" (sorry, could not help but quote Robin Hood, Men in Tights) ... we are involved in serviceability work across many different IBM Software group products. Since serviceability tends to be deep in the core of a product (ie: WebSphere) ... we have been focused the last few releases on making our components as independent as possible. This has the benefit within WebSphere of keeping the component dependencies simpler ... and it has the side benefit (our real evil plot in the first place) of making the software easy to integrate outside of WebSphere.
The first few articles (which are still in the works) will focus on a centralized logging sample that is all pojo ... so it can easily be incorporated into a webApp or elsewhere; and some use cases for the now nicely modularized First Failure Data Capture (FFDC). I am often asked to provide sample code, and doing that, even when it is not connected to WebSphere, can be an arduous task. This blog will provide me a way to help folks better utilize what is already out there.
Finally, anyone who has been following the WebSphere V8 beta currently going on knows that WebSphere V8 has lots of cool stuff. So as soon as I can be sure I won't be flogged for releasing some sample code ... I will put out some samples that take advantage of that.
If there is anything else you'd like to see, please holler. I will do my best. Thanks,
