Just like an arp storm when setting up a dual VIOS configuration, or zoning only a single Fibre Channel WWPN when configuring a switch for partition migration, there are problems that repeat themselves on each IBM Redbooks project.
These errors are well documented, but sometime the errors don't show up until a failover happens, or something is recycled. This makes the progress of the install seem complete and we have a room full of smiles.
For my teams, a Fibre Channel path tends to fail over to the alternate paths at seemingly random times, and the storage would become unreachable. This almost always happens at lunch time.
In the case of the arp storm, someone in the group would shout out the network was down. "What was the last thing you changed?" was met with blank stares, as someone who brought up a new VIOS remains silent.
Cloud product management daemons usually require secure communication within the cluster, perhaps by RSCT. These connections almost always need two-way name resolution, either by a static entry, or a DNS server.
Set up your network resolution before you begin your install!
