I wanted to give you a heads up about "The Greater IBM". If you don't know, it's IBM's current and alumni network. It's the place where you can network and meet past and current alumni who have worked for IBM. The two main sites that "The Greater IBM" uses is LinkedIn.com and also Xing.com (there are links to both websites off of http://www.ibm.com/ibm/greateribm/). If you do join, feel free to look me up or your current and former coworkers at both sites. If you don't find one of your old friends, please send them the link to read up the program and how to join -> http://www.ibm.com/ibm/greateribm/. Enjoy!

The Greater IBM Connection (GIBM) is more than an online community or alumni association. It is a new people-powered network for business collaboration.
It also gives new meaning and added value to being a "Greater IBMer"—whether you are a former employee, retiree, intern or current IBMer.
Through Greater IBM you can now reconnect with former colleagues and make new contacts for personal and professional benefit.
This paper discusses the deployment of IBM WebSphere® Remote Server in a geographically distributed environment. Deploying in a distributed environment is typically characterized as remotely provisioning a number of servers with a software solution. A typical deployment has the following characteristics:
- Provisioning a large number of servers in different geographical regions.- Integrating an ISV application with the WRS middleware components.- Delivering software products while making the best use of limited network resources.
This paper addresses these issues with regard to the implementation of IBM WebSphere Remote Server, using Tivoli Provisioning Manager for Software. The paper is divided into sections providing an overview of IBM WebSphere Remote Server, deployment and planning issues, setting up an IBM Websphere Remote Server deployment environment and installing the WRS solution.
