The IBM Redbooks Open DBaaS Implementation and Best Practices Guide residency (https://ibm.co/2rus6ch) has been announced and its goal is to create a technical enablement document describing IBM's scalable and reliable Cloud Database as a Service provisioning functionality for both relational and non-relational database engines. The goal of the residency project is to deliver a guide to educate users to quickly and easily utilize the features of a relational or non-relational database without the burden of handling complex administrative tasks. Moreover, the focus is to enhance the client experience by helping cloud users and database administrators to provision and manage multiple database instances as needed initially focusing on providing resource isolation at high performance while automating complex administrative tasks including deployment, configuration, patching, backups, restores, and monitoring. This integration document implements an Open Database as a Service environment for Linux on Power showing the ecosystem, open source tools, optimization guidelines, user management, monitoring, and so on.
