The latest edition of PowerVC moves from the DB2 database to a MariaDB. The formats of the data stored within the database are different. Those migrating from earlier versions may benefit from the following notes the Redbooks team learned while updating the IBM PowerVC Introduction and Configuration Redbook.
- The PowerVC upgrade can perform an in-place upgrade of PowerVC to 1.3.1 from versions 126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52 and later.
- Upgrade from older versions needs first upgrade to 184.108.40.206 or later or 220.127.116.11 or later and from there you can again perform the in-place upgrade to 1.3.1 version.
- Database migration is performed automatically during the upgrade to 1.3.1 from supported versions.
- Database migrations from older versions than 18.104.22.168 or 22.214.171.124 is NOT supported. It is possible but requires manual steps and at the time of writing, the team has not discovered a reliable procedure to document.
