Some industries are quickly reaching their limits of technology workloads. The networked economy challenges the fundamentals of business organization, for example, where does the front-office stop and does the back-office start?
As Industry capabilities increase to meet consumers’ demand, our organizations must build a business it alignment roadmap.
Traditional budgeting and planning as a hierarchical exercise does not work anymore. it is increasing the gap between how the business is traditionally managed, and the actual business model.
I ve created a group called Leading Industry Models to make provoking thoughts discussions about the future of Industry Reference Models. These models will help us to align as IT folks with business staff.
Having a mutual understanding of one another’s plans is just the first step. Incorporating the appropriate people, processes, information and decision-making framework is critical. Besides economic circumstances ask for a different approach.
There’s a lot to be shared from many Industry Reference models who have suggested the right architectures for businesses’needs. I work with Cencosud, one of the biggest Retailers in South America and we use Colombia to define the first 100% SOA Store in the region, we made an interesting approach to align Business and IT.
I designed an Enterprise Architecture roadmap using Retail Industry Reference Model and SOA as our main key enabler.
Our project takes only 8 months and it is a succesful rollout that has been presented worldwide events like : Arts User Meeting, Open Group Hong Kong Conference among others.
So it is possible to make this dream come true and i will use this blog post to share thoughts and experiences that let our industries grow .
As an outcome of this rollout Easy move from a SOA Store to a Cross Channel Strategy that was written in the Redbook Multichannel Strategies for Retail that you can download from IBM Redbooks.
One of the key factor we use was a holistic approach called Ontology Coaching because one of the key success factors is Human Capital. I also created a personal development community to share the stuff that helped us to get peak performance with our daily tasks . Check This Resource here
So I you like this blog idea i will keep on posting how we can make a step by step roadmap to use Enterprise Architecture, Industry Reference Models, SOA, Ontology Coaching to get our business it alignment and how we make a vendor product mapping to get a succesful rollout
