| I recently read an online article titled Who afraid of the big, bad blog? The big question is how corporations handle blogging. The purpose of a blog is to allow users to the freedom on what they choice to write about. The problem is that the person is now exposed. Instead of reading "IBM's Portal technology offers endless collaboration," blogging now attaches a name with the statement, "Ted Stanton from IBM states Portal technology offers endless collaboration." On big problem is credibility by the blogger. |
External weblogs by pose threats to a company. To make a true weblog successful, the authors need to have the freedom and occasionally that will clash with corporate standards. I know of over 100 external weblogs hosted by IBM. IBM doesn't allow any employee to post external blogs but they do allow every IBM the ability for internal blogging. IBM has developed principle for internal blogging listed in this article.
