|Each year Certification Magazine does a comprehensive salary survey and this year they received more than 35,000 respondents from around the world. The great news is that salaries seem to be strong with an average increase of 14.1% in 2004 over 2003. Hot areas (and those that are the most lucrative) are Cisco networking, telephony, project management and IT security. |
The industry average of IT Professionals (US) was $67K and the excellent news for those of you partnering with or on IBM technologies - the average for IBM Professionals was $75.2K. This vendor average was second only to Cisco who had an average of $79.9K.
For those of you certified, the facts reported were that 41% of respondents reported receiving a raise in the first year of certification and that 45% felt that their primary certification played a significant role in boosting their salary. More details and international data can be found at
