There's lots to be learned at Lotusphere on subjects big and small. While attending sessions and trying to absorb all the information presented, I made some notes about new terms I've heard. Have you encountered these terms yet?
Wealth boutiques: Branch banks in upscale neighborhoods that are transforming themselves into high-end financial consultants and wealth managers.
Upside-down mentoring: A situation in which younger, newer employees mentor older, more entrenched employees, usually in areas of technology and change.
Truck number: A term used to describe the number of people in an organization who are invaluable and irreplaceable, as in "What would happen if X was hit by a truck today?". Or, more positively, "What would happen if X won the lottery today?".
Informivore: A descriptor for people living in the 21st century, meaning "has to have information." Related to, but distinct from, the earlier term "carnivore," which means "has to eat meat."
