Hannover >= Notes
The other week I was at a conference were Ed Brill presented a slide stating "Hannover >=Notes". I believe Ed gave credit to Kevin Cavanaugh, IBM Vice President of Development for that equation. At the time I first saw it, I thought it was a funny and clever slogan. There has been some exciting announcements at the DNUG this week about the next generation of Notes code named Hannover. Most of the announcements have been about some of new features and much needed make over to the user interface by Mary Beth and her team.
In all the exciting news, one key element that I think people are missing is that Hannover does NOT mean Notes applications will need to be re-designed. We all love to show cool new product elements and preview emerging technologies. While I myself am very excited about the new features and UI, I often need to step back and understand how this is going to impact custom applications that have been surfaced through Notes for years, even decades.
