I just noticed that there is a new IBM blog dedicated to the analysis and correction of the FUD that mysteriously emanates from Redmond and out into the field. I did think that the blogosphere worked wonders on the last flurry around the "migration" tools bull. This will be another voice that can add to the mix a lot faster than publishing a competitive white paper or the like.
(Ironically, according to the Wikipedia entry, FUD originally was used to refer to IBM hardware sales tactics, but that was before my time.)
I have read that some folks think IBM is being too paranoid and defensive. I guess that's one way to spin it. I think we're being smart (see Netscape, 1-2-3, OS/2). Microsoft is a formidable competitor, not to be taken lightly. At some point, Bart has to stand up to Nelson and give him a wedgie, right?
