But do we *need* WS Portal V6 installed to test our resulting applications, or do they run as well in WAS CE 1.1 without the need for Portal whatsoever?

Also, any chance that the packaging be made available for linux?

Jean-Francois - The applications run on WAS CE too. No need for portal. The beauty of this approach is that you could actually use the same code for WAS CE AND WebSphere Portal.

For alphaWorks, it's Windows only. alphaWorks is a proving ground prior to making products generally available. If response is good, then IBM may make plans to release the technology as a product. Since Lotus Component Designer already supports Linux (and other server platforms), it is not a large effort to do that work.
