Lotus Component Designer is an Eclipse-based Integrated DevelopmentEnvironment (IDE) that helps non-Java developers to createdatabase-driven Web applications for an IBM WebSphere Portal 6environment. The use of Application Designer for Medium Businessenables Lotus Component Designer to be deployed to WAS CE. In addition,Lotus Component Designer provides four sample applications to helpusers get started quickly and understand what a typical applicationlooks like.
I was working on this for quite some time before I switched jobs in July, so it is good to have it come to fruition, under the guidance of Pete Janzen and the Designer team with assists from the SMB teams. If you were not interested in Component Designer because it was tied to WebSphere Portal, then now you can try it without installing the portal. WAS CE is a packaging of Apache Geronimo, if you aren't familiar with that product and it's included in the 384M download. There are also a bunch of Flash demos included.
