|The other day I read an interesting article on C/Net News.Com called Ad dollars threaten bloggers' rebel reputations. The article hit home for me as I read it I started to recall how advertisements, promo's, company images, etc. started to appear more and more in the blogs that I read on a weekly basis. As blogs have grown tremendously over the past 5 years, so has the greed to sell sell sell. I don't think this is a bad thing at all and eventually most websites, arenas, stadiums are forced to advertise. I'll never forget when I returned back to Fenway Park in 2002 after spending 4 years in Virginia to see the green monster covered with banners. Back to my point, advertising is not "always" for the money. Many blog sites that I visit just like to showcase there company products and/or individual achievements. I know that I'm guilty of blogging about some of the public articles and books that I have contributed to. |
So what is my point? For the next couple of months, as you read your blog roll, try to observer the content outside of the blog and see if you would consider it advertisement?
