Have you tried taking DB2 database backup and restoring it in DPF using Single System View?
DB2 Version 9.5 (or later) provides the Single System View (SSV) function which allows backing up multiple database partitions at once. In earlier releases, partitioned databases needed to be backed up one partition at a time which can be time consuming and prone to errors. Hello DB2 DBAs!
Hope you are having a nice time during this holiday season!
I recently helped a customer who was running into the disk full condition causing the database to hang with a twist . So wanted to share with you all!!
Typically it would be due to a open transaction which caused the transactions to exceeed log primary + log secondary logs. db2diag.log would have details about that errant application handle which caused the log full condition to occur. A typical entry would be like this.
Merry Christmas. DB2 mates !!
Holiday is actually good timing for writing blogs for me. Today I would like to write a topic a bit aside from DB2 but very necessary in some difficult performance cases.
When we need hands from OS team and expert, it's better to understand what kind of OS tools are necessary and how it works.

Getting "SQL0407N Assignment of a NULL value to a NOT NULL column" error when inserting an empty string.
An empty string is not a NULL value in DB2.
The root cause of the issue is due to the following db cfg parameter.
Varchar2 compatibility = ON
The VARCHAR2 and NVARCHAR2 data types are introduced to support applications that use the Oracle VARCHAR2 and NVARCHAR2 data type.
If DB2_COMPATIBILITY_VECTOR=ORA set in your instance environment and then when you create a database, the value of the... [More]
