Abstract

How to create simple and composite database indexes for class properties in the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine (ACCE) 5.2.1

Body

Here is some new functionality in P8 5.2.1 that seems to have been slipped into the product under the radar.  As an alternative to your database administration tools, you can use the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine (ACCE) in P8 version 5.2.1 to create either simple or composite database indexes for class properties.  I've detailed the process in the following technote and listed the steps below.

Steps to create simple and composite database indexes for class properties.

1. Login to the Administration Console for Content Platform Engine (ACCE) tool

2. Navigate down to <object_store> / Data Design / Classes / <chosen_class>

3. Click on the <chosen_class> and click on the Actions button.

4. Click on Open Table Definition

5. Change to the Indexes tab.

6. Click on the Add button and specify the name, columns and sort order for the index you want to create.

7. Click Ok

Prior to 5.2.1, you could only create a simple index on a class property through ACCE.
