TopCoder, largest crowd-sourcing community in the world, with almost 600K members held the 2013 TopCoder Open (TCO) event November 10 – 14, 2013 in Washington DC. It is a world-wide programming and designing tournament open to all TopCoder members 18 and older who meet the eligibility criteria. There were six competition tracks: Algorithm, Design, Development, Marathon, Mod Dash, and Studio Design. TCO offered over $300,000 in cash prizes and all-expense paid trips to the onsite finals in Washington DC.
There was also a parallel track called TopCoder Innovation Summit 2013 – Innovation Rebels with a Cause. This track was about innovation and how it takes risk utilizing new technologies and tactics like open innovation and crowd-sourcing to make success. There was number of excellent speakers and it was inspirational to listen to them. You can find details about speakers and topics presented at http://www.topcoder.com/innovation-summit/.
I came to the event to spread word about JazzHub, a place where you can collaborate with others to plan, track, and develop software in the cloud. I was not sure what I would expect from the event but immediately community have shown interest in JazzHub. One of the attendees said that TopCoder should integrate JazzHub into their platform. JazzHub provides central place for number of activities for which we have separate, disconnected tools today and JazzHub would aid all their current activities. It was valuable to get such a great feedback after only a few minutes using JazzHub.
It was valuable to get such a great feedback from TopCoder community as JazzHub was built for them. I looking forward to be part of TCO 2014.
