I've attended and presented a few different conferences over the past few years but I've never made it to Share before... until now! Unlike a lot of other conferences, you can leave your shirts in your suitcase and relax! Share has a lovely chilled out feeling about it and everyone seems to know each other. So it's more like a collection of old friends meeting up again. Very easy going and very welcoming to new members, with technical discussion in every corner of the room.
There are plenty of technical tracks to take your pick from, but I've been mostly following the CICS track this time and there was plenty to grab your attention regardless of skill level or interest. Everything from CICS TS V5.1 introductions, cloud, the CICS Explorer and mobile, all the way to CICS extreme debugging and tuning presentations. Thursday finished with the CICS Question Box and Pot Luck session, which gave everyone a chance to ask the IBM CICS team anything they wanted.
If you are speaking or volunteering at Share there are some additional lunch/dinner meet-ups you can attend. At the volunteers lunch they were celebrating volunteers, who had been helping out at Share from everything from 5-40 years! There is a clear sense of community and friendship here that makes this a great place to learn, educate and discuss.
