over the past several days, i had an opportunity to meet with industry analysts and leading venture firms including winblad hummer and bessemer venture partners. in each meeting, we talked about the value of ibm partnerships, especially to smaller companies. it's not too difficult to justify resources and dollars to build relationships with the big guys. it may not be as obvious though, as to how a company like ibm can connect with smaller application providers. it is, however, those smaller companies that in aggregate drive more than half of the industry i.t. spend associated with isvs. ibm has a deep focus here and strong value proposition for many of them.
the value proposition is much more than technical support (developerWorks, innovation centers and i.t. architects). it's more than demand gen activities to create leads and close business opportunities. it also includes help for companies who want to grow and expand internationally. we make advertising available to our partners in markets they choose to target outside their home country. we provide sales support as well. as an example, the global technology unit in israel, in addition to local support, provides dedicated resources as their partners expand to the u.s., asia and europe. the world is flat and customers expect solutions that are available without boundaries.
one of the best ways to deliver those solutions is through ibm global technology and global business services. as each industry unit engages with their clients, they do it with isvs who help create the most robust solution portfolio in the industry. services expertise for our isv partners is built around far more than sap and oracle. ibm global services teams with many isv partners like amdocs in telco, relavis in retail, msc in automotive and epiphany in financial services.
