ISV support is really good if we are using the IBM platform.

If a small firm has a new disruptive technology that could be of value to IBM (a new platform) and to the customers - existing and new, could we contact IBM directly of its interest or should it go through the VC or ISV route where one has to sell and/or certify before moving ahead, to get evaluated?

Krish, thanks for your comment. There are several different answers depending on your company and the technology. ibm has an evaluation process that would be helpful. You can shoot an email to IBM's external submissions team at . They can describe the process and potentially have the idea evaluated. Or you can go to the external submissions site directly and complete an on-line form at:
