I'm getting tired of traveling around carrying my laptop everywhere I go! It seems to me that we have made enough progress in technologies that we should be able to take a snapshot of everything we do on our laptop and subsequently make it available on any available personal computer. Yes, we have solutions like Gotomypc.com and other remote access systems, however, it won't do much good if one doesn't have connectivity. In my quest for determining if there is anything that can meet this goal of mine, I ran across the IBM SoulPad. Bingo, a portable device that allows you to suspend the activity of your computer and resume it on another. Interested in learning more about this project, check out the video at this link for a demonstration and this page for a description of the capability of this device. Although not commercially available, I believe that in the near future, a SoulPad type device will appear on the market making it possible for one to leave that laptop behind.
