I have two recommended books for you today:
- Woe Is I: The Grammarphobe's Guide to Better English in Plain English, Second Edition by Patricia T. O'Conner. It drives me crazy when people misuse "myself" (see page 13) and use "me" for "my" in sentences like "I hope my watching football doesn't give you a headache" (see page 45).
- To the Baltic with Bob by Griff Rhys Jones. I bought this in Heathrow last week on my way home. How could I resist a book with this title? It's about a trip from the UK to St. Petersburg in a wonderful but leaky wooden boat and some colorful friends. It's a trip that's fun to read about but perhaps makes you happy that you did not go on.
