Stephen O'Grady from RedMonk did a blog entry on the subject of how much personal stuff belongs in a work blog. I added a brief comment there that expands a bit on my previous post. Let me put it this way. Suppose we have the equation:
Xnumber of work entries / Xnumber of personal entries = Relevancework blog
If Relevancework blog < 1, one could argue that this is arguably not a work blog and it is reasonable to ask why it is being advertised as such. What is a reasonable number for Relevancework blog? I would argue that it should be at least 5, but maybe 10 is a better answer. I don't know. If the blogger feels that he or she is in the mood to have Relevancework blog less than this threshold, then splitting into two blogs makes sense. The value of Relevancework blog is a personal choice, though management might feel obliged to offer its opinion (mine has not).
