Let me assure you Stephen that, like any current technical topic, there are a wide variety of emotions towards it within IBM, ranging from "REST? What's that?" to "REST is overhyped" to "We must destroy all SOAP/WSDL based services and replace them with REST!"
Within the past two days I saw design documents from both an IGS person and Software Group person, from different projects, who don't know each other, each of whom has obviously drunk the REST kool-aid.
But then we also have folks beavering away on new WS-* specs every day :-)
This leads me to one of the "laws of IBM" that I've discovered:
For any given technical topic of significance, there will be IBMers violently in favor of it and against itOne other law of IBM that's not related to this discussion but is funny because it's so true:
For any given idea that I have that I believe is novel, there are at least five groups of IBMers who have come to the same idea independently, and at least two of them are in the process of filing a patent on it!Updated with links (thanks for the reminder Pat!)
