Likely your computers aren't as old as the one mentioned in this post from Kottke where he writes about an IBM 402 that rolled out of the factory in 1948 and is still in use! Amazing! Technology never dies: it's just displaced. And with proper care, it can go on and on for along time. In this case, a very long time. :)

It's not just for DB2 or Oracle experts, either. Greg provides examples that work with straightforward (though potentially large) CSV files.
