This was a very exiting and successful week!
This is a customer success story where BVQ helped to fix performance issues in a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) environment with IBM Storwize V7000 storage. The Red Hat environment is set up with six storage volumes which have been thin provisioned and compressed to optimize the capacity efficiency.
Unacceptable performance of the RHEV
The situation in the beginning of the project was that the performance of the RHEV environment was reduced due to very high latencies from the IBM Storwize volumes. The RHEV as a result was running below acceptable performance levels – the users experienced phases of long response times which are not necessarily connected to the actual workload of the system. The Storwize system monitoring showed very bad volume response times and in the first step the task was to eliminate this most obvious bottleneck to find out whether this was the only cause for the bad RHEV performance.
Read here how we first analyzed and then solved this bad performance situation in one week.
