I'm going to be in Las Vegas from Feb 22 until Feb 27 to visit the IBM Pulse conference.
This is a pretty good time to meet and talk about BVQ business opportunities.
Or do some technical deep dives into the inner world of SVC or Storwize performance characteristics.
Who ever is interested on meeting - just send me a note.
The BVQ Node / Cache / SAN analysis is well suited to find vulnerabilities and performance bottlenecks in SVC / Storwize or in the SAN.
We offer a webex on February 10 in English
CET 17:00, EST 11 am, PST 8 am, MSK 8pm
Duration 1 hour
Webex on February 13 in German

A ctually, this is a very simple question: "why buy expensive storage, if it is possible to achieve the same with a much cheaper storage?"
This sounds very reasonable, but often it is just difficult to implement. Let´s have a closer look on a typical top level target system for storage planning:
This whitepaper shows how analysis can help to reduce costs very quickly

We offer a series of different workshops which will show you how to use BVQ for performance analysis.
The workshops will be performed by using Cisco Webex.
After you have enrolled for a workshop, you will receive an e-mail with all information needed to participate .

The three main steps for a performance status (60 min)
This is new for the upcoming Version 3 from BVQ (Nov 13)
BVQ can now scan on 1 minutes interval. It is incredible who much detail becomes uncovered when you scan on 1 minute.
Why does this matter?
A smaller scan interval will allow even deeper looks into the system.
The possibility to change these settings on the fly without any interrupt supports normal ands deep analysis mode.
To switch from 5 minutes to 1 minute is easy and does not need any special activity!
You just change the timing of the statistics... [More]
We had a very interesting month. We have fixed performance problems on 3 different V7000 Systems in Europe - all of them are running much better now. The problems have been found in very different places: SAN, Cache Overload, Compression, ...
In no case we had to extend a system - all was solved with changes in setup only.
Do not hesitate to call us when you have performance problems with a Storwize or with a SVC. We will use BVQ to locate the reason for it. No risk for you, no purchase obligation.

This was a very exiting and successful week!
This is a customer success story where BVQ helped to fix performance issues in a Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization (RHEV) environment with IBM Storwize V7000 storage. The Red Hat environment is set up with six storage volumes which have been thin provisioned and compressed to optimize the capacity efficiency.
Unacceptable performance of the RHEV
The situation in the beginning of the project was that the performance of the RHEV environment was reduced due... [More]
A very useful method is the analytical storage planning based on measurement data. In the following example, the MS Exchange-area of a company was analyzed to determine the required supply power.
see attached picture
Fig 2: measured values allow a very precise planning of power consumption and thereby reduce purchasing costs and operating costs. Another positive effect is the safety which results from this planning. These measurements show exactly how much power is needed for an environment. If this demand is covered by the... [More]
Overview: cost savings potential with BVQ
There are several areas in which BVQ can help to reduce procurement costs, operating costs and operating risks.
This document describes these areas where BVQ helps to save costs.
Reduction of purchasing costs
With measurements and appropriate presentation of results in the form of treemaps associated with IO density colorations, BVQ provides an excellent base to obtain a better assessment about the required amount of performance. In most cases this leads... [More]
In this customer example we had the opportunity that two identical managed disk groups with easy tier did perform completely different.
The Target was to understand why and to find ways to improve the situation.
Both managed disk groups have the same technical setup.
V7000 -1 (Cluster 1) we found that the improvements which have been expected by Easy Tier have not been achieved
V7000- 2 (Cluster 2) showed much better results for Easy Tier

it is now much easier to perform BVQ demo installation.
Just send us a mail, we will organize everything needed to start a successful demo.
You can also combine this demo with a SVC / Storwize system check.
