Hi AnthonyEnglish,

I tried the mkvt command in my HMC environment VIOS, it didn't work as you mentioned in the last part of the article. Since I don't know what else need to be configured on the HMC, I turn back to my original way to connect to the LPAR console:

1) ssh my hmc server via hscroot user.
2) Run "lssyscfg -r sys -F name" to list all the machine names on that HMC
3) Run "mkvterm -m <machine name="name"> --id <lpar id="id">" to connect to the LPAR.

The alternative way:
1) ssh my hmc server via hscroot user.
2) Run "vtmenu"

To disconnect the LPAR terminal console, just type ~.
</lpar></machine>

I have just tested the same on an HMC-attached system with the same results. Thanks for providing the feedback of your own experience.
