Recommendations to be followed when TCR machine hostname is changed

0. Start TCR Server 

       ex: JazzSM: <JazzSM_HOME>/profile/bin/startServer.sh server1

1. Take a backup of the existing Cognos configuration file

     ex: TCR 21/211 : <TCR_HOME>\cognos\configuration\cogstartup.xml file

            TCR 3.1 : <JazzSM_HOME>\reporting\cognos\configuration\cogstartup.xml file

2. Export the Cognos configuration into a file, to get the content in unencrypted form

              Windows: TCR 2.1/2.1.1:  <TCR_HOME>\cognos\bin64\tcr_cogconfig.bat -e cogstartup_exported.xml

                                   TCR 3.1: <JazzSM_HOME>\reporting\cognos\bin64\tcr_cogconfig.bat -e cogstartup_exported.xml

               Linux: <TCR_HOME>/cognos/bin64/tcr_cogconfig.sh -e cogstartup_exported.xml

                          TCR 3.1: <JazzSM_HOME>/reporting/cognos/bin64/tcr_cogconfig.bat -e cogstartup_exported.xml

Note: When System A with TCR is cloned to System B, in that case run 'Step 2' on system A and move cogstartup_exported.xml to system B and follow rest of the steps as it is.

3. Stop TCR Server

       ex: JazzSM: <JazzSM_HOME>/profile/bin/stopServer.sh server1

4. Change the system hostname

5. Fix hostname  in TCR configuration files

          a)  Edit previously exported file '../cognos/bin64/cogstartup_exported.xml' and replace all occurrences of the old hostname with a new hostname

               and also please update content manager database machine old hostname to new hostnme if in case db2 is there on the same TCR machine.

         b)  Replace '../cognos/configuration/cogstartup.xml' file with '.../cognos/bin64/cogstartup_exported.xml'. Note: Cognos will automatically encrypt some sections of the file after it is started

         c)   Edit file '../cognos/configuration/cogconfig.prefs', replace old hostname with new one for entry 'HostName='

         d)   Edit file '..../_uninst/TIPInstall22/installvariables.properties' or '..../_uninst/TCR31Install/installvariables.properties'. Note: this change is required for successful uninstallation:

                          i)  Replace old hostname with new one for entry 'IAGLOBAL_CURRENT_HOSTNAME='

                          ii)  Replace old hostname with new one in the entry 'IAGLOBAL_TIP_URL='

6. Start TCR

7. For TCR 3.*, please go to '../ognos/bin64/' location and run command './tcr_cogconfig.sh/bat  -s'

8.  Fix TCR moswos datasource, Note: this change is required to run TCR MOSWOS report successfully:

             .

• Go to 'Administration' view and 'Configuration/Data Source Connections' tab
• Go to 'servletInventory' datasource
• Edit 'servletInventory' connection string replacing old hostname with new hostname
• Save the datasource configuration.
