Why GOD made developers?
And why I'm not the chosen one?
This is the first of a series of blogs
This is my first blog on software development and that's not something surprising because I have hardly been a developer. So obviously the question that came up to me “What do I blog about to developers when I know nothing of development” – I have been a seller, a marketer, a sales leader – but not a developer. I knew not the difference between objects and classes or my... [More]
Sheetal K Agarwal - Sheetal is a researcher at the IBM India Research Lab. She has done her Masters in Computer Science from University of Maryland, Baltimore County. She joined IBM Research India in 2006 and has since then been working with the Telecom Research Group. Her work is mainly focused on technologies for emerging economies. She has been a key... [More]
The last few days have been inspiring. Be it the turnout at the developerWorks Live Unconference at Goa which as some of the participants mentioned was the largest participation they had seen at any IT conference in Goa (maybe they should move towards an unconference model :), or Jim Corgel presenting the awards to the Bangalore unconference winner, Hemant, who managed to draw a linkage between Ants and Algorithms. The students at the engineering colleges we visit continue to suprise us with their insight and enthusiastic approach to learning... [More]
After an enthusiastic flag off by Mr. Pradeep Nair and the Mumbai developerWorks Unconference participants, we reached Pune late in the evening, taking some time to conduct a session at Singhgad Institute of technology, Lonavala. Day 2 : We thought we were wrapped up for the day after two extremely interactive high technology sessions - a developerWorks Unconference on New Intelligence at The O Hotel, Pune (if you weren't there, you missed something), and the other on Cloud Computing at Vishwakarma Institute of Technology, Pune. But then, as... [More]
I recently had an chance to conduct a Bluemix Session in APOGEE, an International Technical Festival conducted at BITS Pilani. The hackathon was organized by IBM University Relations. Thanks Mezjan for this excellent opportunity.
As an IBMer, this was my first experience to present in a college. I was accompanied by Watson expert Magesh Rajamani and Mobile development expert Nitin Sharma.
We started the session at 10 PM. I gave a presentation on Bluemix Overview, its Architecture and Bluemix Catalog. This was followed by a very... [More]
Do you develop web applications or mobile applications?
Do you think of establishing a startup with lesser investments/ start as an enterpreneur
Do you need to create a project quickly?
Do you want to start learning new technologies? There is so much happening in the cloud space and you
find yourself lacking behind others?
If the answer to any of the above questions is “ yes ” , then I would say IBM Bluemix is the solution.
I would say its the “ smart ”... [More]
The sign-up utility on the IBM WebSphere Portal Login form provides the capability for new users to register and to login into the system. Sometime it is not desired to provide sign-up capability or not allowed anonymous access to the Portal.
This sign-up link is configurable and can be add/remove by configuring a 'configurable parameter' named:ShowSignupLink.
Refer to my article how it happens under this link :
I am a fan of iOS and so are many businesses round the world as the concept of "iOS first" prevails whenever there is a need to offer mobile apps to their customers.
Also, I am a fan of Native apps be it on iOS or Android/Windows etc. Till now, native apps scores much above hybrid/web apps when it comes to user experience. Talking about user experience, the thought of designing and developing an intuitive and sleek iOS based application for a fictitious Bank has come alive. The goal was to offer minimum buttons to the... [More]

mobile world seems to be evolving on a day-to-day basis. What was
largely considered to be the realm of science fiction, even as late as 2007, is now mundane.
With new advances and technological
innovations largely making mobiles the de facto standard for connecting
to the Internet, it seems logical that all major IT organizations are
heavily investing in this medium. Building
for the mobile environment has its own drawbacks. Every major mobile
environment has its own text editor and set of tools, and these have

release last month. So, what is it? Just another tool - nah! It's
actually a platform that covers the mobile app development that includes
app dev tools, app management tools, a dev environment and a standalone
server to test apps. There is a developer edition
