Have you written blog posts that have less than 10 views?Do you have something interesting to say, but are having difficulty spreading the word?
Some people think sending out a mass email to thousands of people is the solution to getting people to view your blog post. It's not the best solution. The best solution is creating great content that people will re-share with each other.
How to write a blog post that people actually read? Follow these 5 rules:
Identify a Pain Point in the first few sentences - this might start out with a question like:
"Have you heard about badges, but don't know what they are?"
"Are you new at this company and wonder what it takes to be successful?"
Make your Solution Clear. In the two examples above, solutions might be offered in this way:
"I have discovered the way to quickly and easily start earning badges in as little as 2 hours."
"Let me share with you 10 tips that I have discovered that can help you be successful."
Tell a compelling Story to illustrate the problem - Get people's emotions involved in what you are sharing. Why? Most people will only keep reading if their emotions are involved in some way. See a good example of this in the video below as a financial services company touches their customers at an emotional level.
Tell the readers what objections they might be considering to your solution and answer those. You might discover these objections through your own thought process, but also make sure to get feedback from people. That feedback can then be used for your next step.
Use Testimonials or Case Studies to validate your solution. Most people are not early adopters, they are late followers. So, it's important to help your readers know they are not alone and there is proof that your solution works. This principal of "social following" is visualized in the video below. But, don't forget to leave out the heart of the story in the testimonial or case study.
If you follow these 5 rules, you will gain enthusiastic readers who will then share your blog post with others and hopefully your blog post will go VIRAL!
