IBM Service Management Unite(SMU) V1.1.3 is released with many new features that need you to explore.
1. Service Management Unite for JVM monitoring is available.
As a modern dashboard, starting from SMU v1.1.3, JVM monitoring is included to provide you a more comprehensive understanding of the monitoring environment.
With the JVM monitoring, you can have a big picture of the health status on system health page. If there's any JVM event, it will be displayed in the event widget. You can drill down to the JVM overview dashboard, or JVM details dashboard to look into the key identifier values, also, the subsystem details page shows you the JVM situation in specific environment like DB2, IMS, etc. With the detailed information, navigate to problem isolation dashboards to see the analysis and the corresponding suggested actions, and then, solve the problems.
To learn more about the newly introduced dashboards in SMU, watch the video(New in SMU Performance Management) that gives a detailed introduction.
2. A new problem isolation dashboard based on INGWHY is added.
INGWHY is an operator support function that helps operators to determine why automation takes a resource into the displayed status, or why automation is unable to take a resource into the desired status. This information is valuable when operators open trouble tickets or when automation administrators or system programmers need further in-depth investigations. For simple situations, INGWHY helps operators to fix the problem themselves without contacting the subject matter experts.
If a resource is not in the desired status, it just takes you one action to show what is wrong and what to do next to fix it. The Problem Isolation with INGWHY dashboard shows the result of the INGWHY analysis that is enriched with the relationship graph of the analyzed resource and the requests. With the intuitive identified reasons for the current problem situation and suggested actions, you will solve your problems faster than before.
To learn more about the ‘Problem Isolation with INGWHY’ dashboard, watch this video(New in SMU Automation) that provides you a quick scenario to show how to solve problems with the new dashboard.
3. Suspending System Automation resources is available.
If you have installed System Automation (with APAR OA52610 installed), you will be able to suspend the automation of a resource in Service Management Unite V1.1.3. For example, if you want to maintain the application without being interfered by the automation, you can suspend the automation of that resource simply by selecting the ‘Suspend Automation…’ option from the context menu of that resource. Once the automation resource is suspended, you can start and stop the application, without interacting with the automation manager for starting and stopping the corresponding automation resource. If the maintenance is finished, you can also resume the automation of that resource by selecting ‘Resume Automation’ option.
4. Filtering and status reporting capabilities are enhanced.
With the new filter options in resource dataset and domain dataset, you will be able to create customized dashboards and filter the dashboard to only show the specific resources. In addition, you can also have specific status reports based on filtered results.
