As of this writing, we've released two Db2 12 function levels after Db2 12 GA. Function level 501 introduced the LISTAGG built-in function, and function level 502 introduced new capabilities for managing key labels for transparent data set encryption and support for explicit casting of numeric data types to GRAPHIC or VARGRAPHIC.
Wait! After a year and a half, that's all?
No! In fact, a new just-released announcement for the new Query Management Facility™ (QMF™) Enterprise Edition Advanced feature of IBM® Db2® 12 for z/OS® indicates that since Db2 12 GA we've delivered new capabilities that satisfy or partially satisfy just over two-hundred requirements (RFEs) from our worldwide user group communities!
Many of these new Db2 for z/OS and Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS capabilities are not in Db2 12 function levels, either because we delivered them in Db2 11, or because they are stand-alone capabilities that do not need to be controlled by function level activation.
The shift to continuous delivery is a big change for us, and we needed time to learn this new approach to delivering new Db2 capabilities to you faster, and get it right. We know how much Always on matters, and that you cannot afford performance regressions, much less outages, as you adopt new Db2 capabilities. Nevertheless, during that time we have continued to invest in your requirements for Smarter Analytics, Simplification, and Z Platform Optimizations.
With function level 501, we proved that we can deliver new capability controlled by a function level, making sure that you can apply the PTFs for the APARs that deliver the new function code and enable function level activation, without any changes to your environments and workloads. Then with function level 502, we proved that we can deliver more complex new capabilities, such as those that require updates to the Db2 catalog. And more function levels are coming as 2018 progresses...

For the list of 202 RFEs that we identified as fully or partially "Delivered" after the general availability announcement of Db2 12 for z/OS and Db2 Utilities Suite for z/OS V12, see IBM United States Software Announcement 218-261. For more information about specific RFEs, you can search for the ID number in the IBM RFECommunity with your developerWorks login. However, some RFEs are marked private, and the details are displayed only to the original submitters. A key icon in the search result indicates the private RFEs.
