The Db2 for z/OS Development organization is excited to announce that Maureen Townsend has joined our team as Director of Software Development. In this role, Maureen, or Mo as she prefers to be called, is responsible for the delivery of new capabilities in Db2 for z/OS as well as leading the teams who support our clients. Her focus will be on growing the Db2 business, nurturing client relationships and satisfaction, and strengthening her team, whose innovation helps Db2 for z/OS to solve client problems daily.
Mo started her career with IBM Austin in 1989 working on AIX V1.1, spending 25 of the past 30 years in Texas. She has held a number of positions at IBM including stints in information development, project management, people/product management, and organizational transformation. In her most recent assignment as Global Development Leader for WebSphere Application Server, she led a 350+ person development team to embrace agile development practices, allowing the team to enhance innovation and increase delivery velocity.
Perhaps of greatest interest to the Db2 for z/OS community is the period from 2003 to 2007 when Mo was Business Manager for DB2 for z/OS (we used a big "B" back then) at the Silicon Valley Lab, where she helped to define new offerings, features, and business models. Mo is currently busy meeting clients through briefings, visits, and conferences, and is looking forward to learning more about their current pain points and how our team can help address them. We're delighted to welcome Mo back to the organization. Y'all be sure to say Hey! (it's a Texas thing ;-) to her at an upcoming event!
