Db2 Masterclass in Hursley
In a first for IBM in Europe, the Early Experience Programs brought a popular Db2 for z/OS Master Class to a multinational audience.
First class teachers
The class was led by John Campbell, Florence Dubois, Adrian Burke, and Gareth Jones of the world-wide Db2 SWAT team, with decades of experience to draw on this team created and ran an excellent Master Class.
This fee paying course is by invitation only and is aimed at experienced professionals who want a deep dive into the internals of Db2. During the class, they covered the most common issues related to continuous availability and speed of recovery.
They also shared proven best practices to exploit the full power of Db2 for z/OS and IBM Z mainframes. They included a deep-dive on how to monitor and tune Db2 for z/OS system and transaction performance using Db2 Statistics and Accounting traces.
The class was a relatively small group of selected clients from around Europe. We had twelve students from eight different companies from countries including Denmark, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
The students had mentoring sessions led by the SWAT team and they were also given ample opportunities to network with the other clients to discuss key areas.
Clients felt that this class provided a great insight into Db2. They took away many ideas that could be of great benefit to their companies and that would help improve their Enterprise environments. The feedback we received speaks for itself:
The next session at IBM Silicon Valley Laboratory (SVL) in October 2018 is already full. However, if you are interested in attending a future not yet scheduled session, you can fill out and submit the Db2 for z/OS Master Class Application Form to request an invitation. All sessions are by invitation only.
