Db2ZAI uses the Db2 optimizer and leverages IBM Machine Learning for z/OS technology to improve Db2 SQL access path selection and application performance, with rapid model learning specific to the data and Db2 subsystem configuration.
Function level 503 also introduces the following changes in Db2 12 for z/OS.
A new built-in global variable, SYSIBMADM.REPLICATION_OVERRIDE, provides support needed to replicate system-period temporal tables or in tables that contain generated expression columns. The global variable is intended for use on the apply side of the replication process by products that enable replication of Db2 data. Look for a future blog post on this subject. The functional code was delivered in APAR PI99084.
A new console message DSNG014I to the console whenever the function level or catalog level of a Db2 subsystem or data sharing group changes. The functional code was delivered in APAR PH00506, which also enables activation of function level 503.
A change to the result table of a temporal query for temporal auditing. The result excludes only rows in a history table that were added for the ON DELETE ADD EXTRA ROW attribute in a system-period temporal table. The functional code was delivered in APAR PI95480.
