The refresh pack is a no-license package similar to the fix packs that have been previously used for Tivoli Storage Productivity Center. It is called a refresh pack because it contains new function, therefore, the mod level was incremented. Due to the reduction of files for the installation, the files for all platforms are included in a single fix object. See Fix Central .
Note that this refresh pack is a full version of Tivoli Storage Productivity Center and can be applied as an upgrade to any Tivoli Storage Productivity Center... [More]

While user requirements for installing and running Tivoli Storage Productivity Center Storage Resource Agents, also known as TPC SRAs, are described in the TPC Installation Guide and the TPC 4.2 Release Guide, I am still often asked "what are the user requirements for installing and running TPC SRAs?" So, I have summarized these requirements here in Service Management Connect, in the Tivoli Storage Productivity Center wiki Deploying agents onto hundreds or thousands of servers is often a challenging process, and this wiki article... Your storage capacity isn’t virtualized? Don’t worry you’re not alone. The concept of virtualization of IT resources is broadly understood, however the deployment and usage of virtualization isn’t as balanced across the datacenter. Virtualization of compute –or- server runtime is commonplace, widely referred to as virtual machines (VM’s) but storage, network, desktops, and other areas that make up the datacenter can just as easily be ‘virtualized’ and deliver value. In this article, I’m going to outline why every datacenter should... [More]

Every year I publish a set of predictions that I think will likely happen in the market space of storage and storage management. Here is my list for 2012.... 1) Storage breakthroughs nipping the “Digital Dark Age” in the bud Since the early 1990’s, an increasing proportion of data created and used has been in the form of digital data. Today, the world produces more than 1.8 zettabytes of digital information a year. Yet, digital storage can in many ways be more perishable than paper. Disks corrode, bits “rot” and hardware becomes... [More]
