The intelligence behind how Spectrum Control schedules probes
Balancing the workload of applications across your IT infrastructure is key to maintaining the performance and stability of your environment. Ensuring that IBM Spectrum Control collects data at the right times and frequency can be a critical part of that load balancing strategy.
When you schedule probes to collect data about resources, you can have Spectrum Control automatically schedule them. Automated probe scheduling removes the complexity of manually planning when probes run.

Spectrum Control can monitor many types of resources, including switches, servers, hypervisors, fabrics, and storage systems (block, file, and object). But each of those types can consist of hundreds of resources that differ from each other in large and small ways, such as by model, version number, firmware level, microcode, SMI-S agent version, and so on.

Getting help by exporting performance data
To help resolve performance issues with storage systems and fabrics, you can export performance data for the resources to a compressed file. If you contact IBM® Support to help you analyze a performance problem, you might be asked to send this file.

Locations of log files
Spectrum Control generates a number of log files that record the processes and actions of its main components. You can view these log files to identify where problems occur, and you can provide them to IBM support so that they can help resolve those problems.

For every release since 5.2.11, the Spectrum Control team has been busy enhancing its support so that you can head off potential problems in your IBM Cloud Object Storage sooner, and better troubleshoot problems if they do occur.
But how do you learn about all the ways in which Spectrum Control can monitor your IBM Cloud Object Storage? The answer: the Spectrum Control Knowledge Center on ibm.com + the online help in its GUI.
Let's start with the Knowledge Center.
