In response to customer requests, IBM Spectrum Protect Version 8.1.1 was updated on May 26, 2017, to include support for the Linux on Power Systems (little endian) operating system. You can get the installation package now on Passport Advantage. After you install and configure the server, you can back up data to disk devices or to cloud object storage, using one of several cloud object storage providers.
The current installation package includes the server and license, but does not include the storage agent, device support, or the Operations Center. However, you can use the Operations Center on a different operating system to monitor a server that is installed on Linux on Power Systems (little endian). For more information about the release and limitations, see the server readme file.
