The IBM WebSphere Portal and Web Content Manager starting from version 220.127.116.11 CF11 on offers you the Digital Data Connector framework to display external data on your portal pages. It uses IBM Web Content Manager (WCM) presentation components to render any kind of data that does not need to be stored in WCM.
We are glad to provide a first sample that makes use of this framework to render data served by RSS feeds in the context of your portal pages without the need for writing lines of code.
Because DDC uses WCM presentation components to generate the web page markup, the visual appearance of the integrated data can be fully controlled by your site designers. Hence, it has never been easier to render external data in a way that is consistent with the corporate design of your overall web site.
Site designers can also perform updates to the presentation components in the scope of a project. The portal makes sure that all updates are kept in draft stage until all updates performed in the project are approved and finally published. The presentation components used by this DDC sample are managed in the same way as your other WCM content and design components. This implies that you can use the full set of WCM data management facilities including syndication, versioning, workflow, and targeting.
