Folks, we need your help in driving up the number of customers who are enrolling/participating in our Client Wiki. Could you please ask share the slide below with your students when you teach a class. We have included in the "speaker notes" the message the you should deliver when presenting the slide.
To drive enrollments in our courses and provide a better level of customer satisfaction we are asking you to advertise the client wiki at the end of the courses you teach. Our goal is to use the Client Experience Wiki to drive enrollments to the course offerings. As instructors this translates into possibly more scheduled teaching of courses.
If you have any questions please leave a comment on this blog posting.

Attention!!! Instructors that teach ILO sessions!!!
In 2013, we are using version 11 of Blackboard Collaborate/Elluminate. All the features and functions are still available but they look different now than they did in version 10. Mike Drewry from the USSE recently conducted a session that covered the changes...if you missed attending this session live you can still learn about version 11 but clicking on the session link below. Mike also covered the whiteboard feature in his class and that is what Elluminate 'Plan' is used for. I've included the link for you to download Plan too. Please contact me (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions or need any other information.
This link will allow anyone to play back Collaborate version 11 training.
Also, if you would like to build whiteboard files ahead of time, you can do either of these things:
Install Elluminate Plan and build whiteboards in this tool. Advantage is you can load PPT files and PDFs. You can't load PDFs in a live session.
Plan can be downloaded here:
Disadvantage is that this tool is quite complex. :-(
The other (simpler) way is to launch this:
This is a private session (no others can join) but you can load PPT files and save WBD files from here as you would in a live Collaborate session.

Attention ILO Instructors
Our ILO classes are now using Collaborate Version 12. If you missed the training that was held in January 2013 you can listen to the playback of the session here. https://sas.elluminate.com/p.jnlp?psid=2013-01-09.0717.M.D4AD31F08E9AC57796558914B852A0.vcr&sid=2012136
You can also contact the VLT (email@example.com) and ask them to take you through a 'live' training session. They need at least one weeks notice to accommodate your request.

Newer laptops (T420s, W520s) seem to be shipped with very old audio driver firmware. Typical problems are bad audio, but mostly when you run the Elluminate audio wizard you either can't select the audio devices, or you crash Elluminate. If anyone gets a new laptop, please go to Lenovo's support site:

Blackboard/Elluminate tutorials are available for instructors planning to teach an ILO (Instructor Led Online) course. If you are unfamiliar with either the Blackboard or Elluminate virtual classroom environment you can send an email to the address below. The Virtual Learning Team (VLT) will then schedule a 1x1 session to orient you to the environment. This will ensure you are familiar with the virtual classroom environment before you teach your class.
To schedule a session send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you have general ILO questions either email me at email@example.com or simply reply to this post.

We recently had an case where an instructor deviated from the designed course agenda and Lab Set-up Guide (LSG) and we ended up with a significant customer satisfaction issue. This is a reminder to all instructors, that, it's of the utmost importance, that all our courses be delivered as they were designed. Under no circumstances should they deviate from any course agenda, or the Lab Setup Guide, allow any download of other materials, patches, etc., unless discussed with the course owner, and fully tested in the CLP. In addition, anytime an instructor has a lab issue in their class, they need to immediately report the issue to the Instructor Hotline. It should be investigated fully so no other customer experiences the same problem (s), and not left unreported.

Hi everyone, e-kitting has finally arrived!!! Starting next week, February 20, we will begin e-kitting all ILO classes. I wanted to share some information with you about the new process and how we are enhancing our student's instructor-led online experience.
The student materials will be included under the Materials tab in Learner Portal along with the rest of the information for the class. The protected files can be unlocked using the same id and password the student uses to log in to Learner Portal. Students can use Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, or Foxit Reader to view their materials. They can annotate them using Adobe Acrobat or Foxit Reader. Most folks who want to annotate their materials will use Foxit because it's free.
We give students the ability to print their manuals and strongly suggest they print their lab guides. The printed materials will be watermarked with "Printed for <student e-mail id>". Using Protected PDFs is pretty simple, but if any problems are encountered during class, just point students to the help desk. I encourage all instructors to log in to their class on Learner Portal and get familiar with PPDFs, especially the use of Offline Mode because that allows students to unlock their materials one time, and as long as they don't switch to another machine, they'll remain unlocked for the duration of class. Once you see how protected PDFs work, you'll be able to help students through any basic questions they might have.
If you want to know more about Protected PDFs, I've attached some information that will be helpful. It can be found here.

Note that this issue relates to Windows 7 only.
If you need to upload a PowerPoint presentation into Elluminate if you are unable to do so then please see the issue and resolution listed below.
Issue: When attempting to upload a PowerPoint presentation in Elluminate you are unable to select any .ppt files.
Resolution: To resolve the problem save all of the slides as .jpg images into a folder. Elluminate recognizes the .jpg images and you can then upload the images which are screen shots of all of the slides.
Remember that if you are having issues delivering an ILO course you should contact the BTO Instructor hot line (888-502-5511 or 001-404-238-6000) or speak to the facilitator of your Elluminate session.

Yesterday one of our instructors was preparing to teach one of our Coffee Time Chat sessions and received the following error message when running the audio setup wizard in Elluminate on a Windows 7 machine.
"Elluminate Cannot Connect to Speakers"
If you encounter this issue you can use the following steps to help resolve this issue.
When using Elluminate always test your connection the day before to ensure you do not have any issues that arise during delivery.
Always remember that if you encounter an issue with Elluminate to contact the IBM Instructor Hotline desk for further assistance.
