“Security is not the Absence of Danger.. But Presence of measures to Prevent the Danger.”
Today's businesses possess a greater amount and more valuable data, than in the past. Consequently, some significant Customer data must be protected just like an important asset. After all, data's value is not limited to the company that owns it. On the contrary, data has also become an increasingly tempting target for malicious entities, further emphasizing the need for robust protection.
Many Customers in the banking, telecommunication domain are primarily Data Driven and hence more Vulnerable to threat during Transit information. There is an increasing indigence to prevention. As a part of IBM Infosphere Optim's Data Growth Solution which provides a archival solution to the industry, Archive File Security gains a great gravity to the archived data. It allows the customer to Control the data, prevent some or any access to data in a specific table or even at a column level.
The Optim Security can be enabled through Optim Configuration. Each archive file will be associated with a File Access Definition (FAD) where the security definition at the Table / Column level for which access privileges are defined. For each listed role, one can grant or deny privileges to access the archived data. Establishing Archive File Security requires an ACD (Access Control Domain) used as the basis for roles in the FAD. Additionally one must use the configuration program to enable Archive File Security.
Hence Archive File Security provides a solution to enable security and allows the end user to view only the necessary and essential data by enabling security hiding for the restricted and sensitive data. So a little Security can makes pounds of difference.
