The Netcool/OMNIbus 8.1 Event Viewer and Event List widgets have the capability to send the event data from the event clicked on to another widget via wires. The default format of this data is a JSON message. For widgets that do not support JSON formatted data however, this is a problem, since the recipient widget will not know how to process the data payload. This companion supplement provides a worked example of how you can use Netcool/Impact to pre-format the JSON message into a format consumable by the target widget.
The following some highlights and features that are new or enhanced in Netcool/Impact 7.1.
User experience improvements
Faster and simplified installation process, due to changes in the product installer and the incorporation of IBM Installation Manager.
User Interface: Netcool/Impact has a new user interface that is more intuitive and provides a greater user experience.
Expanded Netcool/Impact integration with Jazz for Service Management.
Time to value features
Impact -> clustering between nameservers on different operating systems .
It has been observed that clustering between nameservers on different operating systems works.
The following combinations of operating systems have been setup.
Solaris 10 <--> Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 6.3
SuSE Linux Entreprise Server 11.2 <- -> zLinux SuSE Linux Enterprise server (SLES) 10.1

The Tivoli Netcool/Impact product can be used as an OSLC facade for third party products that don't have their own OSLC service provider capability. In this recorded demo, we take you through using Impact to provide hover preview capability to TBSM as an OSLC consumer for the Netcool/OMNIbus product, enabling the ITM event information to be displayed inside a new hover preview window inside TBSM.

There is an encoding enhancement in Impact 5.1.1. Impact uses UTF8 as a default encoding to handle policies. So Impact 5.1.1 and newer release could read, write and display special character correctly, such as accent, either in file system or GUI pages without setting a specific locale/encoding.
However, customer need set correct locale to display them normally in Impact 5.1.0 and older release if policy having special characters, otherwise garbled characters will display. Customer set correct locale... [More]
This scenario shows how to create a self service dashboard in the IBM Dashboard Application Services Hub (DASH) component of Jazz™ for Service Management . The custom dashboard that you create uses IBM Tivoli Netcool/Impact 6.1.1 to connect to and retrieve data from an IBM Tivoli Monitoring (ITM) 6.3 dashboard data provider. You can also use Tivoli Netcool/Impact to combine metric data from multiple managed systems and filter this data in context, based on events from publishing widgets such as a list or table.

In this scenario, you are required to write Netcool/Impact policies to retrieve data from web services, however, retrieving the correct data through the web service can sometimes be difficult as additional information is required from the JAR files or the WSDL itself to access the information. In these particular examples, you have two web service examples:
Weather – retrieves weather data for a particular area
Stock – retrieves stock quote data for a particular stock symbol
You can use Netcool/Impact to expose data types and policy user output parameters through the UI data provider to populate Tivoli Integrated Portal (TIP) charting portlets. Through the use of Netcool/Impact polices, you can provide additional filtering logic to allow the data populated in the portlets to be in context of other portlets, like the Netcool/OMNIbus Active Event List (AEL). In this scenario we will visualize the archived event data in real-time.
In this example, we have a Netcool/OMNIbus ObjectServer TDW (Tivoli... [More]
