Business Service Composer User's Guide
An overview of the Business Service Composer
The Business Service Composer is a utility that assists you in organizing discovered IT resource elements into a structure that allows you to take full advantage of TBSM.
To use TBSM effectively, you must build a service model that accurately represents your IT environment technically and logically within the context of your company's business structure. Building a service model requires that you have a detailed understanding of your IT resources and the roles that each resource plays. You must also have a clear idea of how you want to display the information generated by TBSM to your target audience. Changes to IT environments as well as changes to your TBSM user groups make maintaining service models a complex task. Tools such as TADDM allow you to gather information about your IT environment and can provide an important repository of IT resource information that can be used by TBSM. One or more of the resource importing techniques can be used to provide a foundation for the desired TBSM logical model. However, though critical to the overall TBSM solution, it is rare for these import sources to provide the complete structure that you require. In these cases, using the Business Service Composer can simplify the task of building and maintaining service models that meet your requirements.
