The program was launched in India and so it is fitting that we are in the now closing phase for
applications for SmartCamp Bangalore which will happen in April. Closing date for other SmartCamps are still open so please see our city schedules and apply today if you are interested in meeting the great
line-up of mentors who are now confirmed.
So, a lot has happened since the launch and we thought is was appropriate to spend a little time
reflecting on now that ‘our baby’ is 1 year old. There are many highlights and while we don’t formally
track who gets funded a couple spring to mind. The first SmartCamp was held in Dublin. Of the 5 companies
there has been amazing progress:
On the mentor side Sean
Baker jumped back in as exec chairman 3Strata who competed at our London event. Brian Caulfield expanded
the DFJ network becoming a partner as part of
the Innovation Fund Ireland first investment.
As a side note Dogpatch Labs also announced opening their European HQ in Dublin as a result of a separate
investment from the Innovation Ireland Fund.
Last but definitely not least Paul
Kerley exited Norkom to for €217m. Way to go Paul and team.
So, the point in talking about these is to highlight some good news and as very virbant tech ecosystem
continues to grow in Dublin despite the macro economic issues.
I’m sure there are lots of further examples I have missed. So apologies in advance.
Next time we’ll focus on some of the other cities and winnners.
