Stuttgarter Straßenbahnen AG (SSB), a public transportation company in Germany, did it, by upgrading their SAP server landscape up to the newest server technology, and by switching from HDD type storage to Flash only storage. The result was an ERP batch job reduction from 20 hours down to 12 minutes.
No special in-memory technology was necessary to gain this performance improvement -- and in principle the infrastructure did not change at all: They are still using the same DB, the same OS, and due storage virtualization their storage infrastructure did not change as well. Still same backup tools and methods, still same operation.
